Guangdong Province Shaoguan Steel Group Company Limited is located in Guangdong Province, which is the most active coastal economic province in China and is also the earliest to reform and open up. The company is one of China's 500 largest industrial enterprises, one of 512 national key enterprises, and a state first-grade measuring enterprise. It is currently also the largest steel company in Guangdong Province and one of the most important steel companies in South China. This 110KV secondary general step-down transformer substation project of Shaoguan Steel, as the key construction project of Shaoguan Steel, is the hub of the company’s power supply that mainly takes on the task of power supply for Shaoguan Steel’s production and life.

System scale:

110KV secondary chief substation project of Shaoguan Steel consists of the following parts: double circuit 110kV incoming lines; single circuit inner bridge; two 110kV/6kV three-phase on-load tap-changers; 6kV feeder 23- circuit; 6kV-segment one-time; 4 groups of PT and 4 groups of parallel compensation capacitors on 6kV bus line.

Characteristics of the steel industry:

★  Poor operating environment of the equipment: the dust and smoke emitted by the steel industry accounts for about 15% of total emissions of the national industrial enterprises. The dust concentration from the ore-sintering plant, the iron-smelting plant, and the steel-melting plant is very high, and some enterprises directly discharge dust and gas emitted from their steel converters and coke oven. As it is easy for components of power equipment in operation to suffer from short circuit or even malfunction due to adsorption, higher requirements are put forward for the structural design of power equipment, especially relay protection devices.

★  High energy consumption: In the energy consumption structure of steel companies, power consumption is second only to coal consumption. In view of the requirements on energy saving and consumption reduction, it is urgent to improve the power loss of the power grid.

★ Relay protection device with reliable and flexible programmable logic function can accurately and quickly respond to accidents, timely remove faulty equipment and fault circuits, and automatically restore normal power supply.

★ The system’s equipment maintenance and hidden fault indication enable equipment maintenance personnel to quickly and timely maintain important power equipment.

★ Detailed event recording can help users to recall the cause of the incident and accurately analyze the fault.

★ Power and load management is conducive to analyzing load distribution, so that the users can take targeted energy-saving measures to minimize power running costs.

★ Power dispatching information interface that the system provides enables the electric power operators to monitor and control the power supply and distribution status of the whole plant in real time from a distance (dispatch center).
